Psychotherapy Services during life's thresholds.

I provide a variety of therapeutic approaches to support the mental and emotional well-being of young people in Dublin. My counseling services are customized to address the specific needs of each individual and their families. Young people have many thresholds that they arrive at throughout lifespan development. Adolescence being one of these. Having a therapeutic space to explore the complexities that come with changing peer relationships, identity and hormonal changes can be beneficial in normalising a threshold that is very often Pathologized for young people.

Women in menopause and peri menopause

I offer Psychotherapy to women in peri menopause and menopause. One of life's thresholds that women often find themselves arriving at feeling confused, isolated and alone. In this work I draw on my background in assisting midwives delivering care to new Mothers and their babies in one of the leading maternity hospitals in Dublin. There I gained an understanding of the complexities that arise at the threshold of motherhood, between physical change, identity relationships and emotional health during this stage and beyond.

Please note there are times when a child may benefit from a psychological assessment, I'll discuss this with you and refer you to the right professional. As a Psychotherapist, I don't conduct assessments or make diagnoses.

Group therapy offers young people the opportunity to gather together for peer support. When young people arrive at the threshold of adolescence having peers to explore and discuss the complexities and challenges of this stage in life can be helpful sharing stories relevant to their shared experiences. It provides a supportive environment where participants can relate to one another and gain insights and strategies for navigating common challenges.

Parental guidance provides parents with a platform for peer support on topics pertinent to their children. Often overlooked in service provision, parents are crucial agents for change within the family dynamic.

These parental support groups offer opportunities for parents to enhance their understanding of concepts like attachment and attunement, fostering better relationships and support within the family unit.

I take a collaborative and personalized approach to  counselling. Integrating trauma-informed techniques such as play and creative therapies, talk therapy, and body-based sensorimotor techniques to assist young individuals in developing coping mechanisms, boosting self-esteem, and enhancing overall well-being. Having an understanding of trauma and how it can be stored in the body I also incorporate some body based approaches such as movement alongside traditional therapy to access deeper levels of healing.
